Motion and Kinds of Energy

First, a review of Force and Friction

This is really just for fun!  It has a good explanation of friction. Be a kid again!

Study/Learn:  Types of Motion

1. Define each of these types of motion.  Write them down in your books.  They will be part of a Kahoot Quiz

Linear Motion
Projectile Motion
Parabolic Motion
Circular Motion

2. Watch these videos.  I realize that these might be confusing, but they are interesting.  Also, if you are planning on taking the ACT, it would be good to know these concepts.  Some questions for the Kahoot will come from each video.

3. Kinds of Energy

We have learned that energy is something that gives something else the ability to do work.  There are different kinds of energy.  We have learned about Kinetic and Potential Energy.  Now we are going to break those down.  This week we will do Potential Energy.

Potential Energy is stored Energy.

Watch this video about Potential Energy

4. Define these types of energy.  More Kahoot questions will come from this video and these definitions.

Chemical Energy
Elastic Energy
Nuclear Energy
Gravitational Energy

Stored energy does not just disappear, it is converted into moving energy,
or kinetic energy, which we will talk about next time.

Know/Understand:

1. Do an experiment that has to do with the 4 types of motion listed above, or a type of potential energy.

2. Make a Video of your experiment to show us what you did.  Explain your process and your results.  Make sure to upload it to the Vanguard Youtube Channel.

or

Come prepared to do your experiment in class.  Be prepared to explain your process and explain the results.

Whatever you decide, make it fun and engaging!  Also, you are welcome to do this with a sibling.

Here are a few ideas.  You can use these, or do your own.
