Eureka - Personal Finance Jan 12, 2023

This week we are starting on a new book - The Richest Man in Babylon by George S, Clason.

The Richest Man in Babylon in one of the best selling personal finance books  - with millions of copies sold and shared. It was originally published in 1926, but the lessons taught are just as relevant today as they were in 1926. The book is a series of parables that teach personal finance lessons.

Here is the description from Amazon:

“The ancient Babylonians were the first people to discover the universal laws of prosperity. In his classic bestseller, ‘The Richest Man in Babylon,’ George S. Clason reveals their secrets for creating, growing, and preserving wealth.

“Through these entertaining tales of merchants, tradesmen, and herdsmen, you'll learn how to keep more out what you earn; get out of debt; put your money to work; attract good luck; choose wise investments; and safeguard a lasting fortune.”

For this week you just need to read two chapters:
  • Chapter 1: The Man Who Desired Gold
  • Chapter 2: The Richest Man in Babylon
In our class we will be discussing these two chapters. Be prepared to share some of the lessons you learned or quotes that you found inspiring.

In addition to these two chapters, we are also going to talk about the Habits of the Wealthy. For homework, research habits of the wealthy. You can do interviews with people who are wealthy or do research online. Come prepared with a list of habits and be prepared to share them with the group.

If we have time after these activities, we will play Cashflow, so please bring Cashflow if you own it.
