Eureka - Personal Finance April 20
In our final class of the semester, I want to hear from all of you.
You are going to present on a topic that you learned this year in the Personal Finance class.
You can do a 5-minute solo presentation, or do a 10-minute presentation with a partner.
Here’s the deal, though - you can’t just stand up and talk about a topic. You need to do something creative - a skit, a video (that you make - not one you show from YouTube), a demonstration, you can bake something, write and sing a song, etc. Be creative!
I’m not assigning topics - you can choose anything you want. Even if you choose the same topic as someone else, what you got from it will be different from others.
Here’s a reminder of some of the things we talked about:
- Scriptures about money
- The history of money and taxes
- Rich Dad, Poor Dad
- The rich don’t work for money - the poor and the middle-class work for money. The rich have money work for them.
- Financial literacy - If you want to be rich, you need to be financially literate
- Accounting - balance sheet, income statement, cash-flow
- Assets and liabilities
- Habits of the wealthy
- Cashflow the Game
- Buying assets, doodads, getting out of the rat race, cashflow statements
- The Richest Man in Babylon
- A part of all I earn is mine to keep
- 7 cures for a lean purse
- The Money Game
- Paychecks, Income, expenses, taxes, savings, credit cards, debt, life events, keeping track of money, reconciling budget, assets and liabilities, the different between earned and passive income, and of course, PiddlyJunk

Electricity
and
Magnetism
&
Electromagnetism
Know/Understand:
Watch this video about Electricity and Magnetism
Watch the first part of this video about Electromagnetism. Watch the part about radio waves, microwaves, and infrared waves. The rest is for our last class!
I will do a kahoot with questions from these videos.
Study/Learn:
1. Do an experiment that has to do with electricity and magnetism or electromagnetism.
2. Make a video of your experiment, come prepared to explain your experiment, or explain it as you go while making your video. Or come prepared to show us your experiment in class.
3. Because this is spring break, your experiment is the only homework. Do it with siblings, friends, parents, or cousins!
Become/Serve: Write down a favorite quote from conference and do something to make it look pretty.

Eureka Personal Finance April 6
For this week's class we are going to continue playing "The Money Game" that we started last time we met.
For your homework this week, I have a series of videos I would like you to watch. It is a series that Pastor Andy Stanley of North Point Ministries did about money. I have listened to it several times and it is excellent.
Write down at least one quote from each of the three videos and come prepared to share a quote and your thoughts on it. We will do this for the first 20 minutes of class, then we will play The Money Game.
Here are the videos:

Acres of Diamonds by Russell H. Conwell
Acres of Diamonds is based on a lecture given by Russell H. Conwell. Conwell gave this same lecture over 6,000 times over a 60-year career. He used the proceeds from these lectures to help fund the education of 10,000 individuals at Temple University in Philadelphia.
This book is quick read - it is only about 60-pages long. Here are free links to the text and audio version:

Eureka Personal Finance - February 23, 2023
Personal Finance February 23, 2023
- Read The Richest Man in Babylon Chapter 3: Seven Cures for a Lean Purse
- Make a note of the 7 cures and update them for your circumstances. In other words, how can you put each of these cures into place in your life right now?
- Be prepared to discuss this in class.
- Go through the remainder of the book and look for a quote, or main idea, from each chapter. Many versions have a quote, or main idea, at the end of the chapter. If yours does not, use this free online version: https://www.thediamondsmine.com/files/Ebooks/Clason-RichestManInBabylon.pdf
- To give you an example, in Chapter 4: Meet the Goddess of Good Luck it has the following main idea at the end:
- MEN OF ACTION ARE FAVORED BY THE GODDESS OF GOOD LUCK.
- Note that not all chapters have this at the end - you just need to note the ones that do.
- After our short discussion of the book, we are going to play a game that will teach you about budgeting, debt, passive income, and more. It is NOT Cashflow. You don’t need to bring anything - I’ll have it all ready to go.
