We are learning about physical water.  We would literally die after 3 days of no water.  How does physical water relate to spiritual living water?

Look up a scripture about living water.  Who/what does water represent?  How can you nourish others around you?  Choose someone to serve, and in doing so, share the "living water" with them.

I.  Pull out your 3X3 Rubix cube.  We've chosen this for part of our logic training this year, but there are lots of benefits to learning to solve this cube.  Here are a few:

Benefits of solving the Rubik's cube:

1. It helps with improving memory.
2. Learning the ways of solving the cube improves patience.
3. It helps become a problem solver.
4. It helps with mapping of the things.
5. It keeps the mind active.
6. Speedcubing makes your reflexes faster.
7. It will improve your fingers dexterity and agility.
8. It is an awesome conversation starter.

Go to this video, cube in hand, and learn to solve the white face.  Watch and practice until minute 4.  You can rewatch that section as many times as needed until you get it down.  Bring your 3X3 cube to class!!  We will practice in class and have a few challenges.

II. Watch this Cool video, just to be amazed.

III. Print this Astronomy Notetaking Packet (24 pages, but only 12 if you print on both sides), punch holes in it, and add it to your Common Place Binder.  You will fill it in throughout the year.

IV. Read pages 3-4, and page 31 in The Glory of the Stars as an introduction to what the book is all about.  You are welcome to read or skim the rest of the introduction, but it's not required.

IV. Read The Glory of the Stars pages 33-50. This is 2 chapters, which consist of 2 main constellations and 6 minor ones.  Using your notetaking packet, plot the points of each constellation, draw the lines that make the constellations (Add the "picture" if you wish, but it's not required), and takes notes in the provided boxes.  Use your book to help you.  Find the 8 constellations you read about on pages 24-25 of the book, or any other star chart. Here is a good one online.

Rules: Using each of the 5 numbers ONLY ONCE, you may use any combination of addition, subtraction, multiplication or division to manipulate the 5 numbers in any order to reach the target number.

Example: if you had the 5 numbers: "8,4,1,6,3", you could reach the target number of 11 by doing: 3 x 4 + 1 - (8 - 6) 

There is always a way, usually more than 1, to reach the target number.

Use your commonplace book to record your trial and error. Record your equation and bring it to class!

Option 2. Calculate how many days you will have been alive on your next birthday.  Write the number of days in your commonplace book and bring it to class.

II.  Go to This weeks' sky at a glance, Read what's happening in the sky this week.  Take the chance to go outside after dark at look into the sky.  See if you notice anything you learned from the article about this week's sky.

III. If you have a device that would support a constellation app, get one.  I have Star Walk 2 on my phone, it's free, and it helps me pick out the different constellations and planets in the sky.  It's super cool to use when you take your time to go look at the sky.  You'll have to add your location so it can orient the sky to where you are and calibrate.

III.  If you signed up to give a report this week, please come prepared to present a 5 (or so) minute presentation on your chapter.  Get together with your partner and talk about how you'd like to present together.  You can split it up, or work together however you want.

I think everything about the body is miraculous, and I'm grateful for mine!  

Study/Learn

I. Spend about 30-45 minutes reviewing your notes of all the systems.  You can re-watch past apprentice anatomy videos if you wish.  We will spend our time in class playing Kahoot! with anatomy questions.

II. 

In the book A Beginner's Guide to Constructing the Universe, briefly review chapters 1-6.  Think about what you thought was cool about each number.  They are all so fascinating in their own way!!

Come up with a presentation showing (not just telling) one "thing" having to do with that number......remember I showed mine during last Eureka.  This is a very open-ended inspirement.  Your "things" neither have to be on paper, nor hand-drawn if they are on paper.  Be creative.

Video yourself doing this presentation and upload it to our youtube channel.  OR Make a presentation using prezi or google slides, and share the link with our group.

I.  Read this article (with a few short videos included in it) about inventions of the 21st century.

As per usual.....come up with a 30-second mind-blowing newscast about ANY invention of the Third Millenium  (The past 20 years)

The emotion of gratitude can literally change you, and heal you.  The more grateful you are for everything, the more your energy changes, your stress dissipates, and you feel better. Writing about what you're grateful for is powerful.

Go to this google doc, and write down at least 3 specific things you are grateful for about your body, using correct anatomical language. Think of all the systems we've studied, and see what you remember.  Or look them up if needed (especially the spellings, haha!)   Here are some examples:

I'm grateful that my phalanges are able to type this blog.

I'm grateful that my occipital lobe is constantly allowing me to process visual information.

I'm grateful that my urethral sphincters allow me to hold my urine so I don't have accidents on long car trips.

These ideas should get your wheels turning!

Finish up the book by reading Chapter 12. It's about 15 pages or so.  It gives some great stress-relieving tips.  Try each one as you read about it.  We will discuss what you think of these methods, and anything else about the book you'd like to discuss.

Watch this Video on the Brain. (6 min) You will hear some statements about evolution.  It's hard to avoid that when studying the body, because it's such wide held belief.  Especially when studying the brain.  We know better.  God created our brains this way in the beginning, and on purpose!!

This video is incredible with the images of neurons literally growing together or apart instantly.  WOW!!!

Write down your biggest "WOW" about this video and bring it to share.


Go to the Bio Ninja Website, and look at the 2 diagrams of the brain on this webpage.  Memorize each of the sections of the brain, in BOTH Diagrams (External Structures and Internal Structures).

 I will give you these diagrams in class.  They will be blank and you will fill them in.  Think of it like memorizing geography....only, it's your brain this time. :)




In the book A Beginner's Guide to Constructing the Universe, read or skim chapter 6.  Write down 3 interesting discoveries from the chapter.  You'll share your favorite in class.  NOT a quote out of the book, but an actual interesting THING about the NUMBER 6.  What makes it so darn cool??!!

Choose one of these projects from the chapter (or any project in the chapter, but not listed here), and bring it class to share:

I. Go to Back the Bio Ninja Website, on the left side of the page you'll see blue boxes that contain "Core Content" and "Extra Content."  Choose a section from one of those, and learn about it.  Come prepared to report on it.!!  2-3 minutes. The information on this site is basic and minimal, but interesting.  If you'd like to study your topic beyond this site, feel free.

II.  Watch Inventions that Shook The World, Episode 10, the 1990s. Write 5 new inventions on your timeline.  Choose any invention from the 90s and prepare.....you guessed it.....a mind-blowing 30-second news presentation on it.  As usual, we'll vote!

III. Watch this...(3 min) another great invention of the 90s!! Enjoy. :)

Number 12!!  As double 6, the Dodekad (#12) extends and refines the Hexad's (#6)...

One wonder of 12 is that it has so many divisors (1,2,3,4,6,12), making it the supreme number in geometry.  Its properties have made it the number of symbolic measurement and sacred structure for ages.

When exploring which numbers in the Bible carry symbolic significance, number 12 stands out as one of the most prominent in Scripture. Among numbers such as 3 and 40, the number 12 appears numerous times throughout the Old and New Testament.

What Does the Number 12 Mean in the Bible?

Number 12  typically means perfection or authority—often used in a context of government. For instance, because Jacob has 12 sons, they form the 12 tribes of Israel. There are also 12 minor prophets that dot the text of the Old Testament.

Found 187 times in the Bible, the number 12 makes a special appearance in Revelation, showing the authority and perfection of God’s kingdom at last.

Go to this Google Doc and Add 2-3 instances where you see or hear about #12 in the Scriptures, or in society.

I. In The Healing Code read Chapters 10 and 11.  Pages 217-270

You actually get to read what the Healing code is now!  Does it surprise you?  Does it seem too easy?  Does it make sense?  Think about these questions for our discussion.

For one of your prayers this week, actually try using the healing code for a struggle you've been having.  It may feel different then what you're used to, but remember, it's just a powerful prayer.

II. Choose ANY part of the brain, including the eye and ear,  and draw it or sculpt it out of any materials.  You can even print out a diagram, but  you'd have to TRACE it, and make it YOURS.  This is a Waldorf education method.  Here is a link to some ideas, so you know what I mean.  These are only ideas.  Come up with your own!  Bring it to class to share.  This should be detailed and take some time.

I. Take notes in your CBP on each of these videos as you watch them. Write down 2 quiz questions per video on strips of paper for our quiz. You will bring your strips of paper into class and put them into a bowl. Write the answer to your question on the back of the strip of paper. Memorize the answers to your own questions.  It will be good for your team.

If I do my math right, there are 5 videos, so if you come up with 2 questions per video, that would be 10 questions total.

 Research the top 5 nutrient-rich foods, and tell why they fit this category.

Also find 5 of the top nutrient-void foods, and tell why they fit this category.

Bring your findings to class to share in a 2-3 minute report.



II.  Watch Inventions that Shook The World, Episode 9, the 1980s.  Write 3 new inventions on your timeline.  Choose an invention of the 80s (could be from the movie or not), and prepare a 30-second, mind-blowing advertisement for that invention.

We've been learning about our amazing bodies, and all the fascinating and incredible mechanisms that happen inside us in order for us to keep living.  But guess what?  None of that really matters unless we use our bodies for good.

 So, go and do some good! 

Use your capable body to serve someone.  But reach out and do some service that you wouldn't normally do. 

 Go the extra mile!  

After all, if you strung all the DNA in all your cells together it would be about twice the diameter of the Solar System.

Surely you can do at least an extra mile. :)

I. In The Healing Code, read pages 169-215. At the bottom of page 170, you are asked to write down what you desire, need, seek, want, require, etc.  Write 1 page fulfilling that assignment. This page is your ticket into journeyman.

II. And so is the food you bring.  Bring a small snack to share (you can eat a light lunch), and research how long that particular snack takes your body to digest.  Think simple, ie: carrot sticks, jerky, a homemade treat.  The fewer the ingredients, the easier it will be to determine digestion time.

We will digest while we talk about digestion.  It'll be great fun!

We will have a quiz in class about the immune system, and all the systems we've studied to this point.


II. Review your notes from Chapters 3 and 4.  If you did not bring your tetrahedron to last class, please bring it. You may still have it, we just didn't get to talk much about it. Bring it again.  If you don't still have it, make a new one and bring it.  It only takes a few minutes.  You'll need a blank sheet of paper, your compass, pencil, scissors, and tape or glue.  The instructions are in the Constructing the Universe book, and start at the bottom of page 61, and move onto page 62.  We will be sharing our favorite things about # 4 in class.


III. Watch Episode 8 (the 1970s) of  Inventions that shook the World. Write 3 interesting inventions on your timeline.

I. Build a bridge. In the Guide to Constructing the Universe, we learn that a triangle is the strongest shape.  It's used in construction all over the place.  Now you get to put this amazing shape to use as you build a bridge! We will test the strength of each bridge in class.  The strongest bridge wins.

VANGUARD MODEL BRIDGE GUIDELINES

The object of this competition is to design, construct and test the most structurally efficient model truss bridge bbbbrr. The bridges will be loaded initially with a  bucket and testing apparatus. Dry sand will be added after the initial loading, until the bridge collapses.  For this, you will need a ½ inch hole in the middle of your bridge for a rod.  If you don’t want a hole in the middle, you need a flat surface on top to stack weights. Either way is fine.

CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS:

• Minimum length 18 inches; maximum length of 24 inches.

• Bridges are to be made of any combination of popsicle sticks, toothpicks, matches, and any type of yarn or string.  Any glue to hold them together is fine. Hot glue works well. However, you may not coat the bridge with anything including glue, paint, stain, etc.

• The bridge must not weigh more than 8 ounces.

• The bridge “road” must extend the entire length of the bridge and maintain a "vehicular roadway"

with a minimum side and top clearance of 2 inches.  (2 inches wide x 2 inches high).

What Does the Number 3 Mean in the Bible?

 Many numbers in the Hebrew language tend to have a deeper meaning.

Three, shelosh[f.], sheloshah [m.] means harmony, new life, and completeness.

The number three appears in the Bible 467 times, fewer than the number seven, but more than most of the other symbolically important numbers.

Sometimes three is used as an emphatic Semitic triplet to describe the intensity of something. It’s not just holy. It’s holy, holy, holy. 

We do have to keep in mind, three isn’t always necessarily something good. In Revelation, we see an evil trinity: Satan, the Antichrist, and the False prophet (Revelations 12-13).

However, typically, three means something complete and good. Satan does often like to take something good from God and corrupt it, much like the number three and the concept of the Trinity.

God has ordered the world to follow mathematical and numerical patterns. We can see his design in how numbers operate even in nature, knowing that everything on earth points back to the fact that God exists, so we have no excuse not to praise him.

We should remember to keep an eye out for any instance we see something thrice in Scripture. It’s either emphatically pointing to the essence of something, or showing the completeness of something.

II. Write down a "popsicle" memory that you would be willing to share in class.  You can read about popsicle memories on pages 123-124 of The Healing code.


III. In your CPB, write down 5 diseases.  Look up each one and write down what pathogen causes that disease: bacteria, virus, mold, parasite, yeast, something else?

We will do a couple interesting labs in class about the immune system....one will possibly include growing some fascinating bacteria.

Look up either "belief" or "unbelief" in the scriptures, using the topical guide or internet search tool.  Find a scripture that tells what happens if you believe, or cast off unbelief.  Add your scripture and your findings to this google doc.

Masters

I. Read the rest of Case for a Creator. Chapters 5-11.

II. Choose 1 of these Chapters to study in depth, and come ready to teach us about the evidence in that field. (5 min, or whatever you need)

4. Research Sherpas and answer these questions:
Where do Sherpas live?
What mountain do they help people climb?
How much less is the concentration of oxygen molecules at the top of Mount Everest?  Is this a problem?
How do Sherpas deal with lower levels of oxygen?

5. Study Rene Theophile-Hyacinthe Laennec.  Answer these questions:
What did Rene invent?
Why did he invent it?
What did his mother die from?  Has a cure been found?
How did he get the idea for his invention?  How did he name it?
Share your findings in class.

IV. Bring your compass AND straightedge, BOTH!!!! We will use them in class.  Differently than last time.  PLEASE Remember them. :)

~What did the speaker want "him" to remember?
~Why did the Lord deliver his people out of bondage?  What did they have to do?
~Have you ever considered yourself to be in bondage in some way?  Bondage can be any type of emotional or physical pain.  Is the Lord able to deliver you?

I.  In The Healing Code read Chapters 2, 3, and 4. (Pages 61-117).  Highlight interesting parts you read.  Write down any questions that come to your mind as you read.

Choose ANY part of the Circulatory or Respiratory system, and draw it or sculpt it out of ANY materials.  This is a Waldorf education method.  Here is a link of some ideas, so you know what I mean.  These are only ideas.  Come up with your own!  Bring it to class to share.  This should be detailed and take some time.
